Heart Palpitations
Heart palpitations are the feelings of your heart racing, pounding, flip-flopping, or skipping a beat. These palpitations can be felt in your chest, throat, or neck, and they can be triggered by stress, exercise, caffeine, nicotine, or medications. Sometimes, they may be caused by an underlying heart condition.
Palpitations do not require treatment unless your doctor finds a heart condition that causes them. If your palpitations are caused by a condition, such as an arrhythmia, treatment will focus on correcting the condition using medications or pacing devices.
